The Montauk is bringing fresh ingredients with an East Coast charm to the streets of Old Town Scottsdale. Renown for their delectable Lobster Roll and crisp, bright ambiance, The Montauk will pull you in from the streets to experience live music and an even livelier atmosphere.
Add to the equation that this is one of the most photogenic spots in town, and I’m completely on board! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the crafted cocktails of the Montauk and hurried in for a Sunday brunch.
I was greeted with live music and open windows and doors that complimented the bright, nautical accents surrounding me. I cozied up quickly with my group in a comfy booth to get started on our Sunday funday. We started with a few brunch cocktails before diving in to the menu on this beautiful, sunny day in Scottsdale.
The Guava Mimosa was a refreshing change from the typical mimosa. The Watermelon Mule was a wonderfully crisp mix of ginger beer, lime, Tito’s vodka, and freshly muddled watermelon. The star of this show was definitely the Spark Plug. No need for coffee for this brunch, as the Spark Plug has all you need with Smirnoff vanilla vodka, Irish cream liqueur, cold brew coffee, and coffee ice cubes. Yes, you read that correctly – coffee ice cubes. A revelation! Why have I never thought of this?
Finally – time for food! Obviously we ordered the Lobster Roll with brown butter aioli, celery, romaine, and chive potato chip dust with a side of colorful kale salad. Living up to every expectation, this was the best way, hands down, to start our brunch off right! The perfect ratio of bread to lobster-goodness served warm and savory with fresh hints of celery and light aioli brought us right back to visions of being seaside. Next, we made sure to order the Turkey and Egg sandwich with havarti, fried egg, turkey, tomato, and avocado pesto aioli. We added jalapeños…obviously. Breakfast sandwiches with a gooey perfect egg cascading out and over hearty pieces of bread will forever be one of my favorite things. Feeling a little green for brunch? So were we – I also made sure to order the Avocado and Pink Grapefruit Salad; a refreshing and revitalizing mixture of jalapeño, feta, pumpkin seeds, cilantro, mixed greens, and jalapeño vinaigrette. This salad hit me with a fresh pop of spice and citrus that brought me back to life.
And as if this wasn’t enough brunch-time goodness, one can never forget to try the crepes. Always try all of the crepes! What makes a crepe even better? Add Nutella! And that’s exactly what The Montauk does! Not only that, they add banana and warm peanut butter mouse. Have mercy! Or, if you want something slightly less sinful, try the Bacon and Egg Crepe with fried egg, bacon, crispy new potato, and havarti. Brunch has never been so good, folks!
Brunch isn’t just an excuse to have champagne before noon. It’s a perfect reason to get out on a beautiful day with your friends to enjoy savory dishes and live music. It’s a reason to connect and spend hours chatting and laughing in a friendly and inviting environment that makes you believe you’re on vacation. And if you’re going to do any or all of that, I must highly recommend you try The Montauk! You won’t be disappointed.
Cheers and Bon Appétit, Food Lovers!
