Metropolis is located in the lower level garden of the stunning Scottsdale Optima Camelview Condos. This gorgeous community was the beginning of a real estate revolution when it popped up and now has become home to this delicious hidden spot. Serving up comfortable, classic cuisine and cocktails, this is the perfect spot for brunch by the fountain, lunch with a side of pinot grigio, or date night with your better half in the heart of Scottsdale.
I love, love, love, these condos. I love the architecture of this community and the goal of building a bustling area for folks to live and interact. Obviously you don’t have to live here to eat at Metropolis, but I can’t help but be jealous of those who get to do both! I can guarantee you, it would be hard to tear me away from the patio at Metropolis any day of the week unless it was to go to the gym to make more room for more delicious food.
I started with a crisp lemonade as I eyed the classic cocktail list and exquisite wine menu. And it makes sense that the wine menu is so well-rounded with fantastic choices since the owner is a level 1 sommelier. You can trust this list will never disappoint.
I started with the Met Lettuce Wraps. This colorful, fresh plate has diced rosemary chicken, dried apple, dried corn, shredded carrot, dried strawberries, almonds, feta and huckleberry vinaigrette and is served in romaine lettuce cups. It was then time for the Drum Tower Dumplings; savory shrimp and pork steamed dumplings w/ponzu and sriracha. These little bites of love are just as beautiful as they are delicious and addicting. But I had to save room for the sandwich I had been craving since I first saw it on the menu online – the Lyon Chicken Sandwich with rosemary chicken, brie, aioli, sliced apples, dried strawberry, orange marmalade on focaccia bread. Did I say brie cheese? Yes, yes I did. And a nice big slice of it, too – very easily one of my favorite pleasures in life. It paired perfectly with a healthy portion of mac and cheese with bacon. Not overly gooey, but with the perfect amount of sin; that’s how I would describe this savory mac and cheese. With every scoop down in to this dish, the cheese got warmer and more delicious. Definitely make sure you ask for this one when you order your sides!
Everybody orders dessert at lunch, right? Well, I certainly due. Dessert always. Metropolis makes fresh homemade desserts in rotation so make sure to tell your server that you’re in the mood for something sweet and see what they have concocted. For us, we had the delicious Banana Foster Butter Cake – moist butter cake with fresh banana and caramelized brown sugar. Top it with a fresh strawberry? Yes, please!
All in all, an absolutely fabulous lunch on a fabulous property in the middle of our beautiful city of Scottsdale. Definitely a perfect lunch! Head on in for dinner or lunch because this exquisite menu is for both! Plus, I hear the brunch is out of this world so I guess I’ll have to head back soon!
