Bar Vinedo is a new upscale experience in Queen Creek for wine lovers and culinary adventure-seekers. The menu consists of American fare with international influences to pair with regional wines. What’s even more of an exciting promise of culinary excellence is the fact that Bar Vinedo has a scratch kitchen! That’s like bait for foodies. Add live music and a wine tasting room – how could anyone stay away?
My first experience at Bar Vinedo was beyond expectations. From stepping foot in the door, it felt like being elevated to a level of something new and exciting; beautiful and intimate but rich and cultured all at once. The lounge-style center of the dining room circles around a large beautiful tree – transporting us to the essence of natural beauty which could essentially be a nod to the idea of being one with nature itself; where the grapes grow. Why, you ask? Because wine plays a big part in the fun and uniqueness of this Queen Creek gem. Located in the back corner of Bar Vinedo is a quaint tasting room, packed with wines to taste in house. Complimentary wine tastings are offered on Wednesday; making me VERY happy that this happened to be the day I finally made it over! Trying a few Susana Balbo wines offered by the knowledgeable staff, my evening began on a perfect note. Once back at my table, I moved on to cocktails and appetizers and dove right in.
We started with a selection from their “Sharables”; the Smoked Salmon Spread with smoked red salmon, mascarpone cheese, fresh hers, capers, and baguette. Smoked salmon is a favorite of mine from breakfast to dinner and the unique texture and flavor of the addition of the mascarpone made this choice one that was out-of-the-park delicious and satisfying. We also ordered the Diver Sea Scallops, which were perfectly pan seared with herb oil and micro greens. Scallops rarely surprise me these days but the combination of herb oil in the searing process provided a perfect outer layer of initial crispness to the tender center. A side of burrata made in house and we were ready for entrees!
We enjoyed a selection of 4 entrees for the table. The Herb Roasted Chicken was served with a natural jus, roasted rd bliss potatoes, bacon glazed brussel sprouts, and carrots. Airline chicken has become one of my favorite creations and this dish showcased the tender qualities of this dish as it slid off the bone. Absolutely delicious and leaving me wanting more and more! The Pork Persillade was an impressive 8 oz bone in pork chop rubbed with dijon and panic crust, served with bacon glazed brussel sprouts, and potatoes au gratin. This was a very inventive pork crust that was invigorating and noticeable in every initially-crunchy bite we took. The Braised Beef Short Ribs were highly recommended and lived up to the expectations in being such. Served with potato puree and seasonal vegetables, these short ribs were tender and savory and absolutely melted in your mouth. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the kind of dish you come back for alone.
Okay, folks. This dessert blew my mind. We ordered the Spanish Fritters but when they came to the table, they exceeded every expectation I had and even some that I didn’t. They were basically homemade fluffy churros with ridiculously flavorful dipping sauces served in a trio; warm honey, prickly pear, and chocolate. I was barely hungry enough for one but I made sure to eat 3. I’m not a huge sharer when things are quite that delicious.
It’s definitely time to make it to Bar Vinedo – whether you are local to Queen Creek or not. If you live in North Scottsdale like I do, it will be worth the hike, I promise you. Speaking of, I better go make my next reservation now!
Cheers and Bon Appétit, Food Lovers!
